Off the shelf materials for next day deliveries
We have two steel stockholding facilities: Somers Steel Stock in Halesowen and Somers Steel USA based in Michigan, USA. The extensive steel heat treatment and steel machining facilities at Somers Forge enable steel to be supplied in any condition with short lead times for ‘off the shelf’ items and deliver Nationwide.
At Somers Steelstock we hold a large range of Carbon & Alloy forged bars from 310 mm diameter up to 1015 mm diameter, which is the largest diameter stocked in the UK. Amongst others, we stock highly demanded grades such as 080M40, 709M40, 817M40 T and 722M24 T.
Full bars and individually sawn blanks can be provided to customer requirements and we also have the in-house capability to offer further operations such as heat treatment, turning, boring, UT examination and mechanical testing.
We also stock Somers own branded Die Steels ‘Electem No.5’ (DIN 1.2713) and ‘Somdie’ (DIN 1.2714) as well as H13, Bestem and Thermodie. Available in round bar and rectangular section these materials can be sawn to customer requirements and supplied in the required hardness range. We also have the in-house capability to manufacture bespoke Dies to customer requirements. Our Die blocks are also regularly supplied with sawn dovetails to customer drawings.
Somers Steel stock USA was established in 1983 to serve the US closed die forging industry with their die steel needs. The warehouse holds in excess of 1,000,000 lbs of the Somers branded die materials with Somers branded die steel are all pre machined to size.
